We are excited to announce the introduction of a new project! Partnering up with Meaningful Teens, an online tutoring organization, GLIFY hopes to create an impact in global communities through Project Udaan, which is led by Annie Zhang. Project Udaan allows volunteers to tutor English to young girls in India, with a main goal of improving their English language skills. The project will be held every Saturday through Zoom from 6:30pm to 7:30pm PST. While Meaningful Teens recommends tutors to be 15 years old and above, volunteers younger than 15 years old may still join the project. For more detailed information, please check the signup email that was sent out earlier. If you are interested in being a Project Udaan tutor, click here to sign up!

Hello Everyone, We are excited to announce that we have a new project for our members! GLIFY has just approved the Math Games Festival Project, led by Avery Liu and guided by Sophia Henningsen. The purpose of the math festival is to be a learning experience for both kids and their families by helping kids learn math through a different lens, one that opens the eyes of kids and helps them see the mathematical wonders of the world. This event will be taking place at the Contra Costa Public Library and the Dublin Library. If you are interested, make sure to keep an eye out for the signup email!
Best Regards, GLIFY Co-Presidents

Chocolate Truffle Fundraiser
From the first two sessions of 2024, the Chocolate Truffle Fundraiser raised over $1700 from 22 families across the Tri-Valley. In the spirit of spreading love for Valentine’s Day, the first delivery session was made possible by seven volunteers who completed 42 regular and 15 small packs. Each order consists of handcrafted chocolate truffles made with the highest quality ingredients. The next delivery dates for these delectable treats are from 4/14-4/20. Order here to get tasty truffles to enjoy and support GLIFY in the process!

Dublin People of the Parks (P.O.P.) is a program that makes sure the parks of Dublin are clean, doing tasks such as cleaning benches and picking up garbage. These events help the park looks better and stays clean. Recently, we have finished two events in January and February, both of which gone well. Everyone has put great effort into making our community a better place. We hope you will join us next time!

San Lorenzo Family Help Center
After finally completing the move to their new facility, the San Lorenzo Family Help Center is now taking volunteers again! Due to the new system, it now only has 5-6 slots, but is still just as fun and rewarding. You will still be supporting the community and helping many families throughout the process. The next event will be in early April. Hope to see you there!

Over this month’s two hosted events, twenty-one GLIFY volunteers participated in the White Pony Express (WPE) project, sorting unwanted food from grocery stores and distributing it to people in need. Some volunteers also worked in WPE's general store, organizing clothes for distribution. Each of those packages helped someone, so thank you to everyone who came!

GLIFY Reutlinger Concert
Ever since Fall 2018, every third Saturday of the month about 10 GLIFY members present a one-hour concert at Reutlinger senior center, which houses over 180 seniors. The seniors always look forward to attending the next concert, since music is one of the important ways their lives are enriched. At this event, volunteers not only can showcase their musical talent, but also give back to the community by bringing joy to the seniors through their performances. Another benefit of volunteering at the senior center is that it helps volunteers to overcome their fear of performing in front of other people over time. Come join us if you have musical talent!

Kids Against Hunger
GLIFY volunteers join a Kids Against Hunger (KAH) event once a month to package meals that are distributed to hungry children and their families around the world. In just four sessions that lasted an hour and a half each, our amazing GLIFY volunteers were able to package 19,656 meals! GLIFY is extremely grateful for all of our volunteers and KAH for giving us a chance to give back to the community!
