Lives we impact

Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN)

Global Leadership Initiatives for Youth has been donating to FCSN since 2018. Also, GLIFY members have been volunteering with FCSN since 2017. Our volunteers have taught virtual classes for math fundamentals, dance lessons, art classes, and storytelling classes to children with special needs, helping them develop new skills and have fun.

Local Children in Need

Global Leadership Initiatives for Youth has raised thousands of dollars to help and support local underprivileged kids. Previously, GLIFY sponsored four children, Micah, Roger, Halona, and Angel, from low-income families in the Tenderloin District in San Francisco through the city impact project. This year, we are sponsoring Alex, Halona, Jacob, and Jonathan. GLIFY’s annual donation provides them with financial support for their school education and nutrition.

Uganda Orphanage Children

Since 2013, Global Leadership Initiatives for Youth has raised funds to support Ugandan orphanage Children. The first three children we supported from 2013 to 2018 were James Mukisa, Miravle Nakawesa, and Oliva Betty. The three children we currently support are Christine Nanyonga, Gloria Namuyaba, and Noeline Owembabazi. With the sponsorship of GLIFY, these children were able to be sent to foster families and go to school.

Raising Youth Mental Health Awareness

Since 2020, GLIFY  has been donating to Alan Hu Foundation in memory of Alan and to support the foundation in its mission to promote mental health, raise awareness and remove stigma surrounding psychiatric disorders, and support fundamental research for cures.

Since 2017, GLIFY has hosted Dr. Xie’s seminars to promote youth mental health, reduce teen anxiety, improve positive communication and boost family relationships.  Dr. Xie is an expert in youth mental health and she has 20+ years of experience as a psychologist in American public schools with research findings in educational psychology. The mental health seminars cover topics geared towards both parents and youth.
