GLIFY members have been volunteering with Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) since 2017. FCSN provides information and assistance to children with special needs, adults with special needs, and their communities. Our volunteers teach dance lessons, art class, and LEGO class to children with special needs, helping them develop new skills and have fun.

GLIFY members serve the Open Heart Kitchen at Pleasanton’s Ridgeview Commons Senior Center twice a month. This is an ongoing activity we have been involved in since April 2016. This Christmas, GLIFY participated in Adopt a Senior, a program in which volunteers purchased gifts for seniors in the Tri-Valley region, many of whom are alone and in need. GLIFY first participated in the global charity, Operation Christmas Child, back in the Christmas season of 2020. This project collects Christmas gifts packed in shoeboxes which will be sent to children around the world affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, and other similar circumstances. GLIFY has participated in the Holiday Wish Drive hosted by Family Giving Tree since 2015. Our members donate new toys, clothes, shoes and gift cards to underprivileged children to spread holiday joy and make them feel special. We also participate in gift wrapping and party room decoration for gift distribution.

Every summer since 2017, GLIFY members and their families have been volunteering at the Alameda County Fair. This is an annual community festival held in Pleasanton from June to July. Our dozens of volunteers help the fair run smoothly. Typical jobs include pre-fair help, building attendant, guest services, booth support, art instruction, clean up, STEAM

GLIFY volunteers participate in White Pony Express, a non-profit organization dedicated to sorting unwanted food from grocery stores and distributing it to people in need. It is a special opportunity for families to learn from seasoned child psychologists how to bond with children, help them maintain mental wellbeing and grow in a positive environment.
